Yesterday, January 12, in Kara-Balta, in the yard of house No. 25 on Otorbaev Street, an amazing event for winter occurred — snowdrops bloomed.

In the photo taken that same day, you can see how these early flowers awaken to life in unusually warm weather: the temperature reached +10°C during the day, and the nights remained warm as well. Such a climate contributed to nature showing the first signs of spring much earlier than usual.

“This event is a vivid example of how climate change affects the biological processes of plants. Snowdrops are among the first plants to start growing in response to warming and increased sunlight. This also indicates global climate changes,” noted local resident Tatiana Ivanova.

Earlier, Turmush reported that in early January 2026, tourists noticed the first snowdrops in the foothills of the Sokuluk region.

“I saw these early flowers for the first time so early,” shared nature enthusiast Alexander Sosin.
