According to information from Kyrgyzhydromet, on January 16 during the day and January 17, there will be sharp changes in weather conditions in Kyrgyzstan: snowfall is expected, with intense precipitation in some areas. As a result, there may be wet snow accumulation on trees and power lines.

Fog will be observed in certain areas. Snow drifts and ice patches will form on the roads, and in mountainous regions, snow drifts are possible. An increase in the western wind is also forecasted, with speeds reaching 15-20 m/s.

From January 17 to 19, a significant drop in temperature is expected: in the Chui and Talas valleys, nighttime temperatures may drop to -9…-14°C, while daytime temperatures will be -1…-6°C. In the Osh, Jalal-Abad, and Batken regions, nighttime temperatures will range from -2…-7°C, and during the day from -2…+3°C. In the foothills, nighttime temperatures will drop to -11…-16°C, while during the day they will be -2…-7°C. In the Issyk-Kul basin, nighttime temperatures are expected to be around -7…-12°C, and during the day -4…+1°C. In the Naryn region and mountainous areas, nighttime temperatures may reach -23…-28°C, while during the day they will be -9…-14°C. In high-altitude areas, nighttime temperatures may fall to -26…-31°C, while during the day they will be -9…-14°C. In the Suusamyr valley, nighttime temperatures may drop to -30…-35°C, while during the day they will be -11…-16°C.

This unstable weather background will create difficulties for the operations of communication and energy services, as well as utility companies. Heavy precipitation will reduce visibility on highways, complicating transportation.

Due to the forecasted precipitation from January 16 to 18, 2026, there is a likelihood of avalanches, snow drifts, and icy conditions in the mountainous regions of Kyrgyzstan and on the following highways:

- Bishkek—Osh (121-138 km);

- Ala-Buka—Kanysh-Kiya (68-74 km, 86-101 km);

- Krasnaya Gorka—Ak-Tash (0-3 km);

- Myrza-Ake—Kara-Kulja—Alayku (65-110 km);

- Karakol—Engilchek (45-90 km);

- Balikchy—Kazaraman—Jalal-Abad (326-349 km).

When traveling through avalanche-prone areas, drivers should strictly maintain a distance of 500 meters between vehicles.
