Storm Warning: A sharp drop in temperature is expected in Kyrgyzstan

From January 16 to 17, a sharp deterioration in weather conditions is expected in Kyrgyzstan: snow is forecasted, with heavy precipitation in some areas. Wet snow will accumulate on power lines and trees, and fog is also possible. Snow drifts and ice will form on roads, and snowdrifts are predicted in mountainous regions.

According to the Ministry of Emergency Situations, during this period, the wind will strengthen, reaching speeds of 15-20 m/s in some areas.

From January 17 to 19, a sharp drop in air temperature is expected: in the Chui and Talas valleys, nighttime temperatures may drop to -9…-14°, while daytime temperatures will be -1…-6°. In the valleys of Osh, Jalal-Abad, and Batken regions, nighttime temperatures will fluctuate from -2…-7° frost to +3° warmth during the day. In the foothills, nighttime temperatures may reach -11…-16°, while daytime temperatures will be -2…-7°. In the Issyk-Kul basin, nighttime temperatures will fall to -7…-12° frost, while daytime temperatures are expected to be from -4° frost to +1° warmth. In the Naryn region and mountainous areas, nighttime temperatures may drop to -23…-28°, and during the day to -9…-14°.
