Adylbek Kasymaliev: Kyrgyzstan has entered the top 50 best tourist destinations in the world

The results of the study were published by the respected publication Financial Times

At a recent meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, the head of the government presented a report on achievements and prospects in the field of culture, sports, and tourism in Kyrgyzstan.

According to him, the tourism sector is currently demonstrating rapid development. Kyrgyzstan has significantly increased its recognition as a tourist destination, making it into the list of the top 50 vacation spots according to Financial Times in 2025. Moreover, the British publication The Guardian named Kyrgyzstan one of the best places for ethnic tourism.

“As part of a large investment project, the construction of the year-round ski resort ‘Ala-Too Resort’ has begun in the Ak-Suu district of the Issyk-Kul region. This project covers the areas of Jyrgalang, Ak-Bulak, and Boz-Uchuk, with a total area of 3,916 hectares. Significant attention is being paid to the development of tourist infrastructure in both the Issyk-Kul region and the city of Cholpon-Ata. Sanatoriums, boarding houses, hotels, and beaches are being brought in line with established standards, which contributes to improving the quality of service,” said Kasymaliev.

Regarding culture, the head of the cabinet noted that major repairs are currently underway on the buildings of institutions, as well as strengthening their material and technical base. In particular, 990 million soms have been allocated for the construction of a new educational building for the Kyrgyz National University of Culture and Arts named after Bubusara Beishenaliev, and 750 million soms for the educational building of the M. Kureneev Music College. Additionally, a philharmonic hall for 3,200 seats and a modern museum are planned to be built in Manas.

A significant event was the inclusion of Kyrgyzstan's national drink — maksym — in the UNESCO list of intangible cultural heritage, which occurred on December 10, 2025.

Discussing sports issues, Adylbek Kasymaliev noted that in 2025, the State Agency for Sports was established, and the salaries of coaches increased by 30%. State spending on sports rose from 800 million soms in 2020 to 2.2 billion soms in 2024 and 2.5 billion soms in 2025.

“The sports infrastructure in the country is actively developing and being restored. In 2025, the Small Sports Arena for 5,000 seats was reconstructed in Bishkek, and a sports palace for 5,200 seats costing 1 billion soms was built in Manas. Furthermore, the construction of the ‘Bishkek Arena’ stadium for 51,000 seats, which will meet FIFA standards, is ongoing in the capital. New sports halls and stadiums are being opened in all regions of the country,” added the head of the cabinet.
