Villagers opposed the solar power plant
Deputy Gulsunkan Junushalieva presented at a session of the Jogorku Kenesh the appeals of the residents of the village of Ortok, who are unhappy with the construction of a solar power plant. "Local residents claim that they stopped the work, but the contractors continue. As a result, conflicts arise, as significant areas of pasture are allocated for construction," she noted.
Energy Minister Talaybek Ibraev responded to these complaints, stating that negotiations were held with local residents before the construction began, and they agreed to the transfer of land. However, after the work commenced, dissatisfaction began to grow. He added that the issue has already been resolved, and local authorities will allocate other land for construction.
Additionally, Adylbek Kasymaliev emphasized that Kyrgyzstan's electricity needs amount to 19 billion kilowatt-hours, while the country produces just over 14 billion. The remaining 4.5 billion kilowatt-hours must be imported from Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Russia.
He urged residents both of the village and the entire country to support energy projects and noted that it is wrong to first agree to projects and then oppose them.
