In 2024–2025, 17 small hydropower plants will be put into operation


At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev reported that by 2024, electricity generation in the country will reach 117.8 billion kWh.

According to him, in 2024, 8 small hydropower plants with a total capacity of 48.8 MW will be commissioned, and in 2025 — 9 small hydropower plants with a capacity of 49 MW.

He also noted that work is underway to modernize the Toktogul HPP with a capacity of 1,440 MW, and the modernization of the hydro units at the Tash-Korgon HPP is ongoing. The construction of new small hydropower plants is in progress, including the Kambaratin HPP-1.

“In 2026, the construction of 17 small hydropower plants is planned, and in 2027 — 19 new hydropower plants,” emphasized the head of the cabinet.

Additionally, according to him, energy companies have purchased equipment with their own funds: 129 units were acquired in 2024, and 141 units in 2025.
