Kyrgyzstan will receive a loan of 30 million dollars for wildlife monitoring

In addition, a grant of 1.79 million dollars is planned to be allocated


At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh Committee on Agricultural Policy, Ecology, and Environmental Protection, it was announced that Kyrgyzstan will receive 30 million dollars in the form of a loan for wildlife monitoring.

The Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry, Zhanibek Kerimaliev, noted that this project aims to improve the health of the population and animals, as well as to protect the environment in the country.

The loan of 30 million dollars and the grant of 1.79 million dollars will be provided by the International Development Association and the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development under the "One Health" program. The terms of the loan are as follows: repayment period — 50 years, with a 10-year grace period and an interest rate of 0%.

The allocated funds are planned to be used for the construction of two new veterinary laboratories, modernization of six existing laboratories, as well as the purchase of two mobile laboratories. Forty veterinary checkpoints will be established at the border, and the veterinary and sanitary laboratories at 78 livestock markets will be renovated. District veterinary departments and training bases for future veterinarians will be equipped with modern equipment. The project will also include the purchase of vaccines against brucellosis, 32 pickups, and 22 mini-tractors. In addition, seven regional centers for wildlife rehabilitation will be established.

Part of the allocated funds will be transferred to two other ministries.

The committee approved the project in the first reading after discussion.
