The volume of accumulated direct foreign investments from China to Kyrgyzstan has increased

According to information provided by the Eurasian Development Bank, the volume of accumulated foreign direct investment from China in Kyrgyzstan increased from $826 million in 2016 to $2.1 billion in the first half of 2025.

As of today, Kyrgyzstan accounts for 5.8 percent of China's investment portfolio in Central Asia. The main investments are concentrated in the mining and processing industries. An important environmental project is the construction of a solar power plant in Balakchy, financed both by the own funds of the Chinese investor and by attracted borrowed funds with the support of the Green Energy Fund of Kyrgyzstan.

Another significant infrastructure project is the railway connecting China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan, which is being implemented with the participation of China Railway International. China's share in this project is 51 percent, and the total investment volume is estimated at $3.53 billion.

In addition, China plans to create a coal logistics center, Xinjiang Dacheng Yuanlong Technology, in the Osh region.
