Since 2016, the volume of direct foreign investments from China to Kyrgyzstan has increased from $826 million to $2.1 billion in the first half of 2025.
As reported in the EDB report, the majority of Chinese investments are concentrated in the mining and manufacturing sectors:
- 34% of investments ($722 million) are directed to the raw materials sector, where the average annual growth was 4.5% from 2016 to 2025.
- The manufacturing industry accounts for 37% of the total investments ($780 million) and shows higher growth rates.
This indicates a shift in focus from the traditional resource model to the development of production capacities in the country.
