On December 25, President Sadyr Japarov shared information about the large-scale construction of a railway connecting China, Kyrgyzstan, and Uzbekistan during the IV People's Kurultai.
He emphasized that this railway line is not just a transportation route, but an important artery capable of fundamentally changing the economic situation in Eurasia.
“Soon, Kyrgyzstan will become a central hub in the global logistics and transportation system. Our country will provide the shortest transit from East Asia to Europe,” the president noted.
According to Japarov, the implementation of this project will create a number of new opportunities:
• increase in transit revenues;
• development of export capabilities;
• creation of logistics centers and industrial zones;
• attraction of investments;
• development of related industries such as construction, metallurgy, production of building materials, mining, and public services.
Reference According to information from the Cabinet, the total length of the railway section in Kyrgyzstan will be 304 km. The project includes the construction of 50 bridges and 29 tunnels with a total length of 120 km. The cost of the project is estimated at $4.7 billion. Of this, about $2.3 billion will be provided by China in the form of a 35-year loan for the Joint Project Company established by the three countries. The loan will be repaid through this company. The remaining $2.3 billion will be invested in the authorized capital of the Joint Project Company in the following percentage ratio: China – 51%, Kyrgyzstan and Uzbekistan – 24.5% each.
