Kyrgyzstan fully meets its needs for six out of nine essential food products, which has been made possible through the joint efforts of the government, farmers, processors, and cooperatives. This was reported by President Sadyr Japarov during the IV People's Kurultai held on December 25.

The President noted that for a country where 58% of the population lives in rural areas, agriculture is the cornerstone of social stability, food security, and economic growth in the regions.
“The labor of farmers in every region and every village creates the foundation for the country's future. Therefore, the agricultural sector occupies an important place in state policy. We can proudly say that the country fully provides for itself in six out of nine key food products. This has been made possible thanks to the systematic work of all participants in the process,” Japarov emphasized.

He also added that thanks to preferential loans, thousands of farmers have the opportunity to modernize their farms, acquire breeding livestock, and implement new technologies.
“We support seed farms and nurseries, as well as improve access to mineral fertilizers. In addition, we are creating agro-industrial clusters, which represent a new model in the industry. These clusters unite farmers, processors, logistics companies, service, and financial institutions into a single system, ensuring a complete production cycle — from sowing to the release of finished products. New production chains, processing industries, warehouses, and export directions are forming around the clusters. This is an important step towards transforming Kyrgyzstan into a country that produces high value-added products,” the president explained.

Japarov also noted that the processing industry demonstrates some of the highest growth rates in the country's economy.

“This indicates that more raw materials are being processed in the domestic market, thousands of jobs are being created, and the economies of the regions are being strengthened,” he concluded.
