During his speech, Zaparov emphasized the importance of transitioning to alternative energy sources, highlighting the key role of the energy sector in the country. All major industries, including manufacturing, agriculture, and mining, depend on stable electricity supply.
He also spoke about significant achievements in the energy sector, particularly the modernization of four units of the Toktogul Hydroelectric Power Station, which increased its capacity from 1200 to 1440 megawatts. Additionally, this year new small hydroelectric power stations were built and put into operation in the Issyk-Kul, Chui, Batken, and Jalal-Abad regions, and work is ongoing on the design of new facilities.
Over the past two years, projects for solar energy production have been implemented in pilot mode, which is also an important step towards improving the country's energy independence. Zaparov noted that the opening of the solar power station marks the beginning of a new phase in the development of renewable energy sources, which is necessary to ensure stable electricity supply for the population and the economy.
The head of state emphasized the need to create favorable conditions for investors, develop a stable regulatory framework, and simplify procedures for interaction between the government and business. "We see entrepreneurs not only as investors but also as strategic partners," he added.
Zaparov also noted that thanks to the joint efforts of the government and investors, 12 agreements were signed for the construction of solar and wind power stations with a total capacity of over 5 gigawatts. He mentioned that the investment in the first solar power station amounted to 56 million US dollars, highlighting the growing interest of foreign investors in solar energy in the country.
"The annual electricity generation will be sufficient to meet the needs of one district without creating additional load on the power supply, and will contribute to increased tax revenues and the creation of new jobs," the president noted.
In conclusion of his speech, Zaparov emphasized the importance of transitioning to clean energy sources for the modernization of Kyrgyzstan and expressed gratitude to all who participated in the implementation of this major project. After the ceremony, he inspected the technical facilities of the power station and interacted with local residents, who discussed important social issues and thanked the president for his support and the implementation of significant projects, reports the press service of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic.
