Speaking at the People's Kurultai, President Sadyr Japarov expressed his thoughts on the state of the family institution in Kyrgyzstan.

He emphasized that it is the family that shapes the national character and strengthens the state. However, there is currently a worrying trend related to the dissolution of marriages, which results in children being left without one of their parents.

As of 2024, there were 45,321 marriages registered in Kyrgyzstan, while 13,397 couples divorced. This is a 5.8% increase compared to 2023. Simple arithmetic shows that every third marriage ends in divorce, which is a troubling signal for society, the president noted.

Japarov also added that the reasons for divorces are diverse: from economic difficulties to psychological pressure and domestic conflicts. Nevertheless, the state plans to actively work on strengthening the family institution by identifying and addressing social problems.
