- In Kyrgyzstan, there are 117 slaughter points where strict veterinary control is implemented. This was reported by Bakyt Sharapov, Deputy Director of the Veterinary Service for Animal Husbandry, Pastures, and Feed under the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry.

Sharapov noted that a system of identification and monitoring is used to control the movement of animals. After slaughter, the meat must undergo veterinary inspection, and electronic documents and veterinary certificates are issued.

In Bishkek, 14 veterinary-sanitary laboratories operate, where meat products are examined. Beef, horse meat, and pork are fully tracked using the identification system; however, control over lamb remains limited due to insufficient coverage by this system, he added.

The Deputy Director also reported that in 2025, 47 cases of infectious animal diseases were registered in the country, of which 25 cases were related to rabies. The main carriers of the virus are wild animals, which attack domestic livestock and humans during outbreaks of the disease. All infection hotspots have been successfully localized.

Additionally, a large livestock market in Tokmok was closed due to non-compliance with veterinary and sanitary standards, and work is currently underway to create alternative trading platforms. Similar measures were taken in Sokuluk, where a new municipal market was opened.
