On January 7, 2026, at the "Consolidated Post," located near the "Ak-Tilek" border crossing, a batch of potatoes weighing 44.2 tons was discovered that did not meet the established quarantine and phytosanitary requirements.

According to information from the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry of Kyrgyzstan, the control of this batch was carried out by employees of the Department of Chemicalization, Plant Protection, and Quarantine.

The imported potatoes were classified as a quarantine product with a high level of phytosanitary risk and lacked the necessary phytosanitary certificate. In accordance with paragraph 3.7 of the Regulation on the Procedure for Conducting Quarantine Phytosanitary Control, approved by the decision of the Customs Union Commission on June 18, 2010, No. 318, the cargo was returned.

The ministry also noted that the control over compliance with phytosanitary standards when importing agricultural products into the country is carried out in a regular manner.
