The committee approved the construction project of the power line between the substations "Kemin" and "Balıkçı"

At an extraordinary meeting of the Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh on industrial policy, transport, the fuel and energy complex, architecture, and construction, the construction of an overhead power line between the "Kemin" substation and the new "Balikchy" substation was approved, as reported by the parliament's press service.

According to the information received, a loan agreement was signed between Kyrgyzstan and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, while a grant agreement was signed by the open joint-stock company "National Electric Network of Kyrgyzstan" in cooperation with the same bank.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister of Energy Emilbek Ismanov presented the details of the project, which consists of three components, with a total cost of 67.7 million euros. Of this amount, 61.7 million euros are loan funds, 3 million euros are a grant, and another 3 million euros are allocated as technical assistance. The loan will be issued for 20 years with a five-year grace period and an interest rate of 1% per annum.

During the discussion, Deputy Kunduzbek Suimanov expressed support for the introduction of new capacities and inquired about the timeline for the completion of the work. The speaker responded that construction work should be completed by the end of 2028.

Deputy Gulya Kozhokulova also raised the issue of current problems in the energy sector, noting that the population is facing serious difficulties due to restrictions in electricity supply. Emilbek Ismanov assured that within three years, Kyrgyzstan would be able to overcome the energy crisis.

Finally, Deputy Temirlan Aitieff asked a question about the market interest rate Euribor mentioned in the draft loan agreement.
