A new audacious robbery has occurred in Paris. An unknown assailant attacked couriers delivering jewelry and stole five bags of precious items, including a sapphire worth 150,000 euros, reports Le Figaro, citing information from the Paris prosecutor's office.

According to preliminary data, the armed criminal was waiting for the couriers, hiding behind a jewelry store van. As soon as the couriers parked their vehicle, he attacked them with a gun, striking one of the delivery men on the head. After taking jewelry worth a total of 160,000 euros, including the sapphire, the assailant fled on a scooter. The injured courier was urgently taken to the hospital.

The prosecutor's office is currently conducting an investigation, but there are no results yet.

It is worth noting that in October of this year, a high-profile robbery took place at the Louvre, during which criminals made off with historical artifacts worth around 88 million euros in just seven minutes. Eight suspects were later detained, but the stolen valuables, many of which belonged to former members of the French royal family, have still not been found.

Additionally, on December 20, it became known that the head waiter of the Élysée Palace had been stealing porcelain items from the residence of the President of France for two years. He stole about a hundred items used during official events. Police established that he was passing the stolen items to a 30-year-old porcelain collector who worked at the Louvre.
