On the night of December 23 to 24, a tragic event occurred in Tajikistan: two servicemen of the border troops were killed as a result of a clash with terrorists who illegally crossed the border from Afghanistan. This was reported by the press service of the State National Security Committee of Tajikistan.

The clash took place at border post No. 5 "Sad" in the Shamsiddin Shohin district. At 11:30 PM on December 23, three militants crossed the border, and by 11:15 the next day, their location was established.

When the border guards demanded their surrender, the terrorists opened fire in response. According to the State National Security Committee, they were preparing to attack one of the Tajik border posts. As a result of the return fire, all three terrorists were eliminated.

At the scene of the incident, law enforcement officers found and seized three M-16 rifles, an AK-47 assault rifle, three pistols with silencers, ten grenades, as well as night sights, explosives, and other ammunition.

As a result of the operation aimed at preventing a terrorist attack, two Tajik servicemen were killed: Zirekhbon Navruzbekov and Ismatullo Kurbanov. The border troops expressed their condolences regarding this loss.

The agency noted that in the last month, this is already the third case of armed attacks by militants located on Afghan territory, leading to the deaths of both civilians and military personnel.

"These events highlight the irresponsible behavior of the Taliban government, which fails to fulfill international obligations to ensure security at the border with Tajikistan and combat terrorist groups," the press service of the State National Security Committee stated.

The agency expressed hope that the leadership of the Taliban movement would officially apologize to the people of Tajikistan and take real steps to enhance security at the border.

Currently, the situation at the border is stable, and the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
