According to the official statement from the border troops of Tajikistan, an incident occurred on the border with Afghanistan on the night of December 23. The information was published by the National Information Agency "Khovar".
The border guards reported that at 11:30 PM, three terrorists crossed the border of the republic in the area of border post No. 5 "Bog", located in the Shamsiddin Shohin district, in the territory of Kavoki.
As a result of operational-search activities conducted on December 24 at 11:15 AM, the location of the violators was established. It was reported that they did not comply with the border guards' demands to surrender and began armed resistance, planning an attack on one of the border posts.
As a result of the combat operation, all three terrorists were neutralized. From the scene, three M-16 rifles, an AK-47 assault rifle, three foreign-made pistols with silencers, ten grenades, explosives, binoculars, and ammunition were seized.
During the clash, two border service employees were killed: Zirekhbon Navruzbekov and Ismatullo Kurbonov. In an official statement, it was emphasized that this is already the third case of armed attack in the last month from the territory of Afghanistan, resulting in casualties among both civilians and military personnel. The Tajik side expressed concern that these incidents indicate insufficient action by the "Taliban" government to ensure security at the border and combat terrorism. The border guards expressed hope for an apology from the leadership of the movement and the adoption of measures to ensure stability.
