Trump banned entry to the US for citizens of 20 countries

According to the new decree, a complete ban on entry now applies to citizens of Burkina Faso, Laos, Mali, Niger, Syria, Sierra Leone, and South Sudan, as well as holders of documents issued by the Palestinian National Authority. Partial restrictions have been imposed on citizens of Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Gabon, Gambia, the Dominican Republic, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Côte d'Ivoire, Malawi, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, and Tonga.
The official statement indicates that such measures are aimed at countries that have serious deficiencies in security and information sharing.

At the same time, the US is lifting restrictions on non-immigrant visas for citizens of Turkmenistan; however, the suspension of immigration visa issuance remains in effect. This decision is related to Ashgabat's "productive engagement" with the American side and its demonstration of progress in improving identification procedures and data sharing.

Trump had previously imposed similar bans, but they were lifted by Biden

During his first term, Donald Trump had already introduced similar restrictions for citizens of Cuba, Chad, Iran, Libya, North Korea, Somalia, Sudan, Syria, Venezuela, and Yemen, which were later lifted by Joe Biden.

Trump claimed that these measures were "extremely successful" and helped prevent terrorist attacks on US territory. He emphasized: "We will restore the entry ban and will not allow radical Islamic terrorists into our country."

Upon returning to the White House in June 2025, Trump reestablished restrictions for citizens of 19 countries. A complete ban on entry was imposed for citizens of Afghanistan, Haiti, Iran, Yemen, Libya, Myanmar, Somalia, Sudan, the Republic of Congo, Chad, Equatorial Guinea, and Eritrea, while partial restrictions apply to Burundi, Venezuela, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, and Turkmenistan.

It is noteworthy that this time neither North Korea nor Syria fell under the new restrictions.
