- As a result of the decision by the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, import customs duties on waste and scrap of precious metals will be eliminated starting from December 31, 2028.

Vaagn Kazaryan, the Director of the Customs-Tariff and Non-Tariff Regulation Department of the EEC, emphasized that the effectiveness of similar measures applied earlier was demonstrated by the stable utilization of the capacities of the EAEU refining plants and the growth in the consumption of secondary resources.

He also added that due to their unique physicochemical properties, precious metals are in demand in various industries, while the reserves of primary raw materials are limited.

The current rate of import duties on waste and scrap of precious metals is 15% of the customs value. The new decision will come into effect 30 days after its official publication.

It should be noted that according to previous decisions of the EEC Board, the zero rate on the specified goods has been in effect since June 2015 and will last until the end of December 2025.
