On December 24, 2025, during a plenary session of the Jogorku Kenesh, deputy Yrysbek Atazhanov raised the issue of the gas field in Pidap.

He noted that there are 36 unused wells in this area, which negatively affects the ecology and the quality of drinking water due to the accumulated unexploited gas.

In response, Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev promised to visit the field during his next trip to the Batken region.

In 2014, Turmush reported that the gas reserves in this area are estimated at 500 million cubic meters. At that time, Kamalidin Karimov, a representative of the local administration, reported on the identified reserves as a result of geological exploration work in the Pidap area.

The geological exploration activities were conducted by specialists from OJSC "Batkenneftegaz," which was under the control of the LLC "Nefterazvedochnaia kompaniia 'Chzhunnen'."

In 2015, President Almazbek Atambaev appealed to the Russian "Gazprom" to finance gas extraction in Batken. He stated that the gas field in Batken could provide the southern part of the country with blue fuel for ten years. Atambaev also requested that part of the funds allocated for the construction of the North-South gas pipeline be directed towards the search and extraction of gas in Kyrgyzstan.

According to experts' estimates in 2015, these reserves could supply gas to the Osh and Batken regions.

In June 2024, Turmush reported on the Pidap-suu spring located in the Ak-Turpakskiy aiyl aimak, which local residents call Sasyk-Bulak.

This underground source continues to function to this day. The water contains hydrogen sulfide, which gives it the smell of rotten eggs that is neutralized in the air.

Turmush correspondent collected interesting facts about the Pidap-Suu spring. In 1875-1876, a military garrison of the Fergana district was located in this area. When soldiers experienced skin problems, a biologist-chemist V.V. Pidov was sent to the garrison, who, after conducting a survey and research, discovered the source 8-9 km south of Ak-Turpaks.

After studying the water composition, Pidov concluded about its healing properties and opened a medical point for the treatment of soldiers. However, this point was later destroyed by mudflows.

Since then, the spring has been named after the scientist Pidov, and local residents still use its water for medicinal purposes.

Livestock breeders claim that cattle drinking from this spring do not suffer from liver diseases.

Gardeners also believe that watering vineyards with water from the spring prevents diseases in the bushes.
