In September of this year, the United World Wrestling (UWW) announced information about the locations of major international tournaments scheduled for 2026.
According to this data, for the first time, the World Championship for adults will take place in Bahrain, while the Asian Championship for adults has been awarded to Jordan, despite Amman already hosting it this year.
In early December, UWW President Nenad Lalovic visited Bishkek, where he held talks with representatives of the Wrestling Federation of Kyrgyzstan and toured the new "Zhashtyk Arena".
As reported by the federation Sport AKIpress, the UWW president requested to organize the Asian Championship in Bishkek.
According to information on the UWW website, the tournament will be held from April 6 to 12 in Bishkek.
Kyrgyzstan has already hosted continental competitions for adults three times — in 2007, 2018, and 2024.
