In the village of Dolon, located in the Tyup district of the Issyk-Kul region, traditional winter recreation has begun, reports Turmush correspondent.

Every year during the cold season, Lake Dolon freezes over, and local residents start ice skating.

“We began skating just 3-4 days ago, but so far only around the edges of the lake. We will go out to the middle later when the ice becomes stronger. Before that, there will be a check, and only after that can we skate on the entire surface,” share the locals.
According to residents, Lake Dolon usually starts to freeze at the end of November and remains in that state until March. The full skating season begins in mid-December.

Hockey tournaments are also held on the frozen lake.

Earlier, Daniyar Turdumambetov, a local resident, told Turmush that every family in the village of Dolon has skates. People of all ages, from first-graders to 60-year-olds, come to skate on the frozen lake.

He noted that locals have been skating here for about 15 years.
