In the new story of the "Jubailar" column, we talk about the Kyrgyz girl Aruuka Kolokoeva and her Russian husband Radamir, both of whom were born and raised in Kyrgyzstan.

Aruuka is a native of Bishkek and works as an ITF taekwondo coach at a local center, where she exclusively trains girls.

“I got married at 19. My husband and I met at training sessions — we both worked as coaches. He actively expressed his feelings, meeting me after work every day and seeing me home,” she shares.

After Aruuka developed feelings for Radamir, he decided not to delay in proposing and informed his parents of his intentions.

The wedding ceremony was held in accordance with Kyrgyz customs: there was kalym, “ene sutu,” a dowry, and wedding baskets, as well as elements of Russian traditions, as noted by Aruuka.

Her husband is named Radamir; he is Russian by nationality but also has Chechen roots and is originally from Bishkek.

“Although he looks Russian, in character he has become very similar to a Kyrgyz — polite and open. The local elders and sisters simply adore him,” Aruuka recounts.

Radamir accepted Islam, became a Muslim, and regularly attends Friday prayers.

He was surprised by Kyrgyz traditions, especially the fact that the kalym for girls from Talas can be quite high.

Additionally, Radamir became the first world champion in the history of Kyrgyzstan in 2025 among 45 countries,” she added.

Aruuka also mentioned that besides training, in her free time, she studies and takes care of household chores.

“We have many plans for the future, and we are actively working on making them come true,” she concluded.
