Terence "Bud" Crawford, recognized as the best boxer in the world regardless of weight class (pound-for-pound), announced his retirement at the age of 38. His record stands at 42 wins without a loss (31 of them by knockout), and his achievements include the title of undisputed champion in three weight divisions, leaving a unique legacy, sources report.

The announcement of his retirement, made through a farewell video on social media, came as a surprise to many, especially considering his excellent physical condition. Just three months ago, in September 2025, Crawford secured an impressive victory over Mexican Saul "Canelo" Alvarez, winning the title of undisputed world champion in the super middleweight division. This fight, which attracted 41 million viewers on Netflix, marked a significant milestone in his career and made him the first boxer to achieve undisputed champion status in three different weight classes (junior welterweight — up to 63.5 kg, welterweight — up to 66.7 kg, and super middleweight — up to 76.2 kg).
In his farewell address, Crawford emphasized that he is leaving on his own terms, having achieved all his goals.
“I have nothing more to prove. I’m not leaving because I’ve lost the desire, but because I’ve won a different kind of battle. I’m leaving on my own terms! This is not a goodbye, but the end of one chapter and the beginning of another. The time has come,” he shared on social media.
This statement came against the backdrop of a recent scandal with the WBC, which stripped him of his title in the super middleweight division in early December due to unpaid sanctioning fees. Crawford responded with a sharp video criticizing the organization and stating that he would not pay, allowing them to take his "trophy." However, this incident was just an episode in his career, not a reason for his retirement.
Crawford's career is an example of an impeccable rise. He has won world titles in five weight classes — from lightweight to super middleweight. Now "Bud" is leaving boxing, having achieved everything possible in this sport. His legacy as an undefeated fighter who conquered three weight divisions will forever remain in history.
