These days, an important event is taking place in Bishkek — a two-day hearing dedicated to the project of a new general plan for the city, which is to be implemented by 2050. This document was prepared by specialists from the Saint Petersburg Scientific Research Institute of Prospective Urban Development and has attracted the attention of local residents.

Today, the discussions cover the Oktyabrsky and Sverdlovsky districts, while similar meetings were previously held with residents of the Lenin and Pervomaisky districts. More than 400 people are participating in the events, including Vice Mayor Azamat Kadyrov and the leadership of "Bishkekglavarkhitektura".

During the discussions, the developers presented alarming statistics about the state of the city. On an area of 41 thousand hectares, there are 1 million 321 thousand people living, but the social infrastructure is not keeping up with the needs of the population:
Irina Grishechkina, a specialist, noted that Bishkek is losing its cultural heritage: out of 300 sites, half have already been lost. The development of the southern part of the city is complicated by a tectonic fault, and the lack of state land hinders the construction of new social facilities.

The new general plan includes increasing green spaces, especially in water protection coastal areas, as well as developing tourism potential. Despite its status as a distribution center, the tourist flow to Bishkek is only 300 thousand people, indicating the need to expand the network of hotels and sanatoriums.

Public discussions are ongoing, and the authorities are collecting ideas and proposals from residents for further refinement of the final document.
