At a recent kurultai, the authorities called for a reduction in the cost of medications. This initiative was voiced by a delegate from Bishkek, Yrysbubu Anarbekova.

She noted that the country is experiencing excessively high prices for medications compared to neighboring states.

“This is indeed a serious problem. We insist on making changes to the draft law 'On the Circulation of Medicines,' which will come into effect in 2024. We propose that 50-70 percent of pharmacies be state-owned, and that state pharmacies also be opened in the regions,” Anarbekova emphasized.

In addition, she pointed out the high prices for services in private laboratories and clinics. “We believe that the government and parliament should provide for a draft law offering a 30-percent discount on services for people with disabilities and pensioners,” the delegate added.
