The biometric control system implemented in Moscow airports for tracking migrants will be expanded to other regions of the country. This was reported by Moscow Mayor Sergey Sobyanin in his annual report on the work of the city government.

According to Sobyanin, this system serves as a barrier for the entry of individuals who should not be in Russia — "those who are on the watch list."

It is noteworthy that over the year of the experiment, about 45,000 people were denied entry, which accounts for approximately 10% of the total number of migrants attempting to enter the country.

Considering the success of the experiment, the authorities decided to implement it in other regions of the Russian Federation and also to develop "other programs to track who enters and exits the country," the capital's mayor added.
