At a recent meeting of the committee on labor, health, women's affairs, and social issues of the Jogorku Kenesh, Acting Minister of Health Kanibek Dosmambetov voiced alarming data about the shortage of personnel in the healthcare sector. According to him, the country lacks 6,500 doctors and 8,500 nurses.

In addition, there is a deficit of 3,500 orderlies and approximately 2,000 technical staff members.

Dosmambetov emphasized that the staffing issue is one of the most serious problems in the healthcare system, second only to the issue of funding.

“Overall, the situation is critical — there is a shortage of about 23,000 specialists. These figures raise serious concerns, and we must be aware of this. The main step towards solving the problem will be an increase in salaries, which is planned to be 50% starting from April 1, 2025,” he noted.

The minister also added that with the increase in salaries, the Ministry of Health will be able to attract doctors to the system more effectively.
