As part of this program, textile enterprises in Uzbekistan will be able to access $200 million in preferential loans to improve their working capital. The presentation held on December 23 was dedicated to the results of the textile industry and plans for 2026, and was conducted under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as reported by the press service of the head of state.

According to official information, in 2025, the production volume in the textile sector will amount to 134 trillion sums (over $11 billion). The sector attracted $2.1 billion in foreign investments, and export volumes increased to $2.5 billion. Currently, 623,000 people are employed in the textile industry, and the authorities plan to increase this number to 650,000 next year.

Among the main obstacles to the stable development of the industry are the need to import cotton fiber, high borrowing costs, rising logistics expenses in foreign markets, and a shortage of qualified specialists in certain areas.

To overcome these issues, a strategy for 2026 has been developed, which includes not only the provision of preferential financing but also the financial rehabilitation of 138 enterprises. It is also planned to involve 100 new entrepreneurial entities in export activities. Deep processing of cotton fiber and increasing the capacity utilization for producing finished products will be the main priorities for the next year.

The planned target indicators for 2026 foresee an increase in production volume to 147 trillion sums ($12.2 billion) and exports to $3.3 billion. The textile sector aims to attract an additional $2.2 billion in foreign investments, which will allow for the creation of additional capacities for producing 207,000 tons of yarn, nearly 400 million square meters of fabrics, and over 200 million units of sewing and knitwear products.

The authorities pay special attention to quality standards. International programs such as Better Work, BCI (Better Cotton Initiative), and FWF (Fair Wear Foundation) will be implemented in 60 enterprises. Additionally, 15 factories will transition to international financial reporting standards, and a modern laboratory center will be established for product quality analysis across 24 areas.

Digitalization of the textile industry will also become an important area of development. The implementation of ERP systems (Enterprise Resource Planning) and artificial intelligence technologies in 40 enterprises is expected to enhance production efficiency. Plans have also been developed for cooperation with global brands and stimulating the relocation of foreign production to Uzbekistan.
