On December 23, during a meeting of the Committee on Constitutional Legislation of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Venera Salyamova asked Acting Minister of Health Kanbek Dospambetov about the risks of losing personnel in the fight against corruption in the ministry.

During this meeting, Dospambetov's candidacy for the position of Minister of Health was discussed.

According to the acting minister, the Ministry of Health has 88,000 positions, of which 65,000 are currently filled, creating a personnel deficit of 23,000. He noted that the main reason for the shortage of staff is low salaries.

Dospambetov emphasized the need for decisive steps in the fight against corruption, adding that ordinary doctors are not involved in corrupt schemes, and the problem more often concerns chief physicians and managers. "Our goal is not to punish doctors, but to carry out real reforms that will eliminate the roots of corruption. I call for dialogue and joint actions to eradicate corruption," he stated.

The acting minister also reported that some doctors expressed a desire to leave their positions. "This is their choice. Upon analyzing the situation, it became clear that many leaders have inefficiently used budget funds and ordered questionable medical supplies. We will put an end to this. If someone decides to leave, it will not be a serious loss for the healthcare system. It may even open doors for the career advancement of young specialists. Moreover, there are influential figures in this field who have privatized certain blocks and hindered the professional growth of young personnel, dividing them into 'their own' and 'others'. We will not retain such doctors," he added.

In response, Deputy Salyamova urged caution regarding personnel policy, especially in the context of a shortage of medical professionals. "Consider the specifics of work in different areas. I ask you to consider the possibility of increasing salaries for medical staff and improving personnel policy in the Ministry of Health," she said.
