On December 23, Deputy Elvira Surabaldiyeva (District No. 23) raised a serious issue at a joint meeting of several committees of the Jogorku Kenesh, stating that there is a practice in state maternity hospitals of demanding monetary payments for the discharge of new mothers.

The meeting discussed matters related to the republican budget.

She emphasized that many new mothers face this problem, noting that many cannot afford the services of private maternity hospitals, and in state institutions, they are forced to encounter such difficulties. "This is a huge tragedy that needs to be seriously discussed," she addressed Prime Minister Adylbek Kasymaliev.

In response, Kasymaliev said, "I will investigate this issue."
