On December 25, the deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh supported the draft resolution regarding the approval of the monetary reward of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the CIS named after Chinghiz Aitmatov for 2026.
Eldar Su laymanov, chairman of the committee on international affairs, defense, security, and migration, reported that the amount of the award for the upcoming year will be 1 million soms.
After discussion, the draft was unanimously approved.
It is important to note that the award was established in 2012 at the initiative of the Jogorku Kenesh and is funded from the budget of the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan. It is awarded for significant achievements in literature and substantial contributions to cultural cooperation between the CIS states.
