Marat Imankulov: Previously, Kyrgyzstan could not afford to update its armaments

Former Secretary of State believes the country has become more powerful

According to Marat Imankulov, the former Secretary of State, Kyrgyzstan previously did not have the opportunity to update its military equipment, but today the situation has changed drastically. In an interview on "Birinchi Radio," he noted that significant and positive changes have occurred in the country over the past few years.

Imankulov pointed to a number of key aspects, including the "Kumtor" issue, the fight against corruption, as well as the situation on the border with Tajikistan and the state of the armed forces. "Achieving these results required significant efforts and political will. We can see the successes we have achieved. The army has updated its armaments and heavy equipment. New aircraft have been acquired, which are now used to ensure the country's security. Previously, due to low budget revenues and high corruption, such expenditures were beyond the state's capabilities. However, the situation is now fundamentally different. We have updated the equipment, increased pensions for security personnel, and improved the logistical base of all law enforcement agencies," he added.
