- The transition to a regulated and fiscalized operating mode has provided new opportunities for increasing production volumes and developing export potential. This was stated on the radio by the president of the Association of Millers, Rustam Junushov.

He noted that milling enterprises do not regret the introduced changes — on the contrary, it has created conditions for equipment modernization and entry into new markets.

“As of today, we export products to 5-6 countries, and this is not just flour. We supply finished products, such as pasta and confectionery, to Russia, Belarus, Uzbekistan, and Kazakhstan. One of our enterprises even exports confectionery to the United States,” Junushov added.

He clarified that this refers to value-added goods that create jobs and generate additional income for the country.

According to the president of the Association, flour exports from Kyrgyzstan have their limitations due to high competition with neighboring countries.

“Kazakhstan, with its large volumes of raw material production and processing, is nearby, and Uzbekistan, which had about 15-20 mills in 2015, now has around 200. They are actively working in the Afghan market,” he reported.

Nevertheless, in Junushov's opinion, domestic producers have good prospects in the production of pasta, noodles, and confectionery products.

“In this area, we really have opportunities for growth. Currently, the export volume is approximately 150-170 million,” he concluded.
