- In 2025, Kyrgyzstan faced a 30-40% decrease in grain crop yields due to a lack of water. This was reported by Rustam Junushov, president of the Association of Millers, on the radio.

He noted that this reduction will not negatively impact flour production in the country, as the missing volumes of grain will be compensated by imports from Russia and Kazakhstan.

“When there is a shortage of grain for milling in Kyrgyzstan, we resort to imports. This is a mechanism that has proven itself over time,” he emphasized.

Junushov also pointed out that the majority of wheat grown in Kyrgyzstan belongs to feed varieties and is not suitable for flour production. This is due to climatic conditions and insufficient use of modern agricultural technologies, such as improved seeds and crop rotation.

In order to improve grain quality, cooperation is underway with the Ministry of Agriculture as part of cluster development. About 2 billion soms have been allocated for the creation of a grain cluster, of which part is directed to processors at an annual interest rate of 6% for 5 years, while the remaining amount is intended for farmers engaged in grain cultivation.
