As of today, the volumes of gold confirmed by the State Commission on Reserves amount to approximately 980 tons. This information was shared by the Minister of Natural Resources, Meder Mashiev, reports Tazabek.

According to him, the majority of gold reserves are concentrated at Kumtor.

“As a result of geological exploration at Kumtor, an increase in reserves of 147 tons is expected in 2024. Currently, we are exploring new horizons and sites. We have a promising plan to increase reserves by another 180–200 tons, which pertains to the Togolok deposit located near Kumtor and transferred for development. Follow-up exploration work has been completed, resulting in an increase of 2 tons in the Togolok reserves. These days, an environmental assessment of the project for the construction of a gold extraction plant at Togolok is underway. Construction will begin next year,” the minister said.

He also noted that there are other medium and small gold deposits where work is actively ongoing. The results of exploration work are submitted to the State Commission on Reserves throughout the year.

Furthermore, Mashiev reported that the country has silver reserves of 1200 tons, about 12,000 tons of copper, and approximately 1.8 billion tons of coal.

“These are the main mineral resources. The figures may change throughout the year as new assessments are conducted. Based on the work of the State Commission, reserves may increase, while reports from mining companies may indicate a decrease. Thus, this data is 'floating' and is constantly subject to updates,” the minister concluded.
