The head of the ministry noted that a new facility was put into operation in 2025 on the territory of the deposit.
“The work is being carried out by the Chinese company Zhong Ji Mining in collaboration with OJSC ‘Kyrgyzaltyn’. Production processes have already begun, and next year it is planned to obtain metallic gold,” the minister added.
Previously, the minister mentioned that Zhong Ji Mining aims to extract 3.4 tons of gold in 2025.
Solton-Sary is located at an altitude of 3500-3600 meters above sea level, 355 km from Bishkek, on the northern slope of the Kapka-Tash ridge. The nearest railway station, Balikchy, is 175 km away, and the Bishkek-Torugart highway is 82 km away. The deposit consists of three sections: Buchuk, Ak-Tash, and Altyn-Tor. The estimated gold reserves at this deposit are about 20 tons.
Historical Reference
In 2009, the rights to develop the Buchuk section in Solton-Sary were acquired by the Chinese company Zhong Ji Mining, which conducted exploration work and received a license for development until April 2033 in 2013. The area of the Buchuk section is 44 hectares.
In 2013, a conflict arose between the company’s workers and local residents.
Local residents expressed dissatisfaction with environmental pollution and the rapid development of territories by the foreign company, which led to protests in 2011 when exploration work began.
