According to the agency's information, the North Rishtan oil and gas field is located in the Kadamjai district, approximately 60 km southeast of the city of Kadamjai. Geological exploration and 2D seismic surveys have indicated the presence of oil and gas deposits. The development of this field began in 1954, and by January 1, 1993, it was nearly fully depleted, with 46 wells drilled over the entire period.
The second field, South Rishtan, is also located in the Kadamjai district, 60 km southeast of the Furkat station, and was discovered in 1989.
The Geological Service noted that hydrocarbon extraction at several fields in Kyrgyzstan has long been carried out by the Republic of Uzbekistan. According to the acceptance transfer act signed on June 15, 2000, JSC "Kyrgyzneftegaz" received the oil and gas fields of the Burgandinsky massif in the Batken region from JSC "Uzbekneftegazodobycha".
On September 9, 2008, JSC "Batkenneftegaz" received license No. 930 for the development of oil and gas in the North and South Rishtan areas, valid until September 9, 2028. The area of the licensed territory was 2,100 hectares. In July 2019, the company signed a licensing agreement for the development of a technical project, and a reclamation account was opened at "Optima Bank".
However, license No. 930 was revoked by the decision of the licensing commission for subsoil use on December 25, 2024, in accordance with the KR Law "On Subsoil".
As of January 1, 2025, the reserves of the North Rishtan field, approved by the State Commission on Mineral Reserves, are:
- oil - 654.42 thousand tons (geological) and 20.38 thousand tons (recoverable);
- dissolved gas in oil - 68.62 million cubic meters (geological) and 56.61 million cubic meters (recoverable);
- free gas - 44.17 million cubic meters (geological) and 36.44 million cubic meters (recoverable).
The Kyrgyz Geological Service emphasized that all official information about mineral reserves is generated based on approved geological data and decisions of authorized state bodies.
