In the city of Osh, there is a network of 15 large inter-farm canals, managed by both the Osh Main Water Management Department and the Kara-Suu District Water Management Department. Additionally, the region has many internal ditches and canals that are not accounted for by water management structures. The total length of these inter-farm canals exceeds 155 kilometers, of which 107 kilometers are located within the city itself. These canals provide irrigation for agricultural lands located in both the Kara-Suu and Aravan districts, as well as in the city of Osh.
According to information from the Ministry of Agriculture, as part of the activities to demolish illegal constructions carried out by the Osh city administration, the Kara-Suu District Water Management Department is engaged in cleaning the canals, repairing water management facilities, and removing construction waste generated as a result of the demolitions.
For these purposes, the Water Resources Service under the Ministry of Agriculture allocates additional financial resources from the republican budget.
Currently, the cleaning and repair works cover canals such as Aravan–Ak-Buura, Kairma, Zhany, Zhoobas, Zhekelik, Uvam, Muyan, and "Southern." During these activities, excavators, front loaders, trucks, and specialized equipment from water management organizations, as well as equipment from private contractors, are used.
