A new plant that will generate electricity from waste has been opened in Bishkek. This was reported by the city administration.
The plant is located in the northern part of the city.
President Sadyr Japarov attended the event, where he noted that 20 million tons of waste had accumulated at the landfill, negatively impacting the city's ecology. In 2023, a decision was made to create a plant that would allow for the processing of solid household waste with minimal impact on the environment, and a Chinese company was chosen for this purpose.
The project is being implemented under an agreement signed in November 2023 by Bishkek Mayor Aibek Junushaliev and the company Junxin. The total investment amount will be 95 million dollars.
