The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission (EEC) has decided to eliminate import duty rates for waste and scrap of precious metals (codes 7112 30 000 0, 7112 91 000 0, 7112 92 000 0, and 7112 99 000 0 according to the EAEU Commodity Nomenclature). This measure will be in effect until December 31, 2028, as reported on the official EEC website.

Vaagn Kazaryan, the director of the customs tariff and non-tariff regulation department of the EEC, emphasized that previous experience in applying similar measures showed a positive impact on the load of production capacities of refining plants in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, as well as an increase in the volumes of processing waste and scrap of precious metals.

He added that precious metals, due to their unique physicochemical properties, find wide application in various industries, while sources of primary raw materials remain limited.

Currently, the existing duties on the import of waste and scrap of precious metals amount to 15% of the customs value.

This decision will take effect 30 calendar days after its official publication.

It is worth noting that the zero duty rate on similar goods was introduced in June 2015 and will last until the end of December 2025.
