The GDP of Uzbekistan has exceeded $145 billion for the first time in its history. This was stated by Shavkat Mirziyoyev in his address to the parliament and the people of the country on December 26, as reported by the president's press secretary Sherzod Asadov.

The president noted that nine years ago, reaching the $100 billion mark seemed like a huge goal. "This year, we have for the first time crossed the threshold of $145 billion. These results emphasize that our people are capable of great achievements," he added.

Mirziyoyev also mentioned that the strategy "Uzbekistan – 2030" set the goal of increasing GDP to $160 billion by 2030. However, given the current pace of reforms and the activity of entrepreneurs, the deadlines can be reconsidered.

"Considering the current trends, we can achieve this goal as early as 2026," he noted.

According to the president, with the implementation of new technologies and the training of qualified personnel, the country's economy could grow to $240 billion within the next five years.

In addition, Mirziyoyev reported a 23% increase in exports this year, which amounted to $33.4 billion, against the backdrop of changes in global trade rules. The country's gold and foreign exchange reserves also reached a record $60 billion.

The volume of foreign investments amounted to $43.1 billion, which is 31.9% of GDP. These funds create the foundation for sustainable and rapid economic growth in Uzbekistan in the coming years, the president emphasized.

International rating agencies have upgraded Uzbekistan's sovereign rating from "BB-" to "BB".

"This change will allow for a reduction in the interest rate on external loans by 1-1.5 points, and expenses on external debt will decrease by $250-300 million per year," he explained.

Uzbekistan has also improved its position in the World Bank's technology readiness index, climbing 71 places and entering the top ten best countries, the head of state added.
