In his observations, injuries in children occur less frequently in winter than in summer. The main cause of winter injuries is riding on inflatable tubes in the mountains. Adults should carefully hold the child to avoid falls. If a fall is unavoidable, it is best to soften the impact by avoiding direct contact of the limbs with the ground.
The traumatologist warned that iron sleds are the most dangerous during the winter period. It is recommended to use soft coverings on the tubes and secure the hands for safe riding, as well as to avoid rides with a large number of people on one tube. Maintaining order and distance is also extremely important.
In case of injury, first aid should include:
- stopping bleeding using improvised means;
- applying a tourniquet above the injury;
- recording the time the tourniquet was applied;
- administering pain relief.
Under no circumstances should one attempt to reduce dislocations or fragments on their own, as inexperienced actions may lead to additional injuries. If a limb is deformed, it is important to immobilize it in that position and transport it to a medical facility as quickly as possible.
Additionally, the doctor noted that the number of injuries among children has increased due to road incidents involving scooters and electric scooters. Teenagers often cross roads without looking, which leads to being hit by cars, especially when they run across the roadway, added Satylganov.
