Sadyr Japarov, the President of Kyrgyzstan, supported the proposal of a delegate from the People's Kurultai to amend the electoral legislation.

The discussion focused on abolishing the residency requirement for citizens living abroad who wish to participate in parliamentary elections. One of the participants noted that the current regulations restrict the voting rights of Kyrgyz citizens outside the country.

The President expressed support for this initiative.

“We will appeal to the deputies to consider this proposal. I believe this is the right step. Changes should be made to the law, and perhaps a separate quota should be provided for Kyrgyz citizens living abroad so that one or two people can become deputies of the Jogorku Kenesh,” he added.
