During his speech at the People's Kurultai on December 25, President Sadyr Japarov stated that the glaciers of Kyrgyzstan have decreased by 16% over the past seven decades.

He emphasized that modern scientific studies show that the process of glacier melting is occurring much faster than previously assumed.

“The disappearance of glaciers will have a negative impact on the level of water resources in rivers and reservoirs, which, in turn, will affect the conditions for energy production,” he added.
