The state has become stronger: Imankulov on the fight against corruption, defense, and the budget

In an interview with Birinchi Radio, former State Secretary of Kyrgyzstan Marat Imankulov summarized the achievements of the current government and discussed significant changes in the areas of security, economy, and public administration.

Imankulov noted that in recent years, the results of the government's work have been actively discussed in society, and he himself conducted a thorough analysis of the analytical data for this period. According to him, over the five-year term, they managed to accomplish a volume of tasks that had not been achieved in the previous decade.

One of the key points of the interview was the discussion of the Kumtor mine. The former state secretary emphasized that the process of nationalization and returning the mine under full state control was extremely complex and required significant effort and political will. He also reported on achievements in the fight against corruption and the strengthening of border security measures.

Speaking about the situation on the border with Tajikistan, Imankulov recalled the tense negotiations and conflicts, including two major incidents in the Batken region. He noted that during the events of April 2021, the president invited him to the Security Council, relying on his experience in crisis situations.

The interview also discussed the fight against organized crime, where Imankulov emphasized that the state is demonstrating visible results. Significant changes have also occurred in the defense sector: weapons and heavy equipment have been updated, and new aircraft have been acquired, which are now used to ensure the country's security.

Imankulov reminded that previously the state did not have the opportunity to make such significant expenditures due to low tax collection and high corruption, when billions of soms did not reach the budget. Now, according to him, the situation has radically changed: increased budget revenues have allowed for higher salaries and pensions, as well as improvements in the material and technical base of agencies, especially law enforcement agencies.
In conclusion, Imankulov emphasized his active role in these processes, noting that he has been working in the president's team for over four years. He added that there is still much work ahead, and next year the government plans to continue implementing large-scale reforms and projects.
