
A 50-year loan will be provided by MAR
The Ministry of Agriculture Policy has received approval for financing the project "Phase 1 for the Kyrgyz Republic under the 'One Health' program in Central Asia."
Deputy Minister of Agriculture Zhanibek Kerimaliev reported that the total funding will amount to 100.3 million dollars, which will be allocated to three ministries. Of this amount, 30 million dollars will be provided as a grant, while the remaining part will be used in the form of loan funds.
The goal of the project is to significantly strengthen the infrastructure in the field of veterinary medicine, sanitation, and laboratory activities. In particular, it is planned to:
- create two new veterinary laboratories;
- modernize six existing laboratories;
- purchase two mobile laboratories;
- repair and equip forty checkpoints;
- modernize seventy-eight veterinary-sanitary laboratories;
- equip forty-four laboratories with refrigerators.
In addition, for disease prevention, it is planned to purchase:
- 875 thousand doses of vaccines against brucellosis for cattle;
- 5.5 million doses of vaccines for small cattle.
The project also includes training veterinary specialists who will be sent to agrarian and Osh state laboratories. At the same time, modernization of the laboratories of the Ministry of Natural Resources is planned, and the National Academy of Sciences will receive modern equipment, including drones and mini-tractors.
The implementation of the first phase of the project, which will cost 31.79 million dollars, will be entrusted to the Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry. Funding will be provided by the International Development Association.
