On January 9, the youth national team of Kyrgyzstan (U-23) will play its second match at the Asian Cup, which is taking place in Saudi Arabia.

The team, led by Edmar Lacerda, will face the Vietnamese footballers.

In the opening match, held on January 6, the Kyrgyz team suffered a defeat against the national team of Saudi Arabia, while Vietnam secured a victory over Jordan.

At the youth level, Kyrgyzstan and Vietnam have met twice.

The first match took place in 2014 at the Asian Games in Korea, when the teams faced off in the final round of the group stage. In this encounter, Vietnam won with a narrow score of 1:0, with the only goal scored from a penalty.



According to the regulations of the Asian Games, teams were allowed to include up to three experienced players. The squad included footballers such as Valery Kashuba, Cholponbek Esenkul uulu, and Azamat Baymatov, as well as Valery Kichin, Farhat Musabekov, Kairat Jyrgalbek uulu, and Murolim Akhmedov.

The second meeting between the two teams took place in 2023 at an international tournament in Qatar. The regular time ended in a 0-0 draw, and the Kyrgyz team finished the match with one player less after Midin Kerezbekov was sent off. In the penalty shootout, the national team of Kyrgyzstan won with a score of 5:4.
